The 1:50 negative cast of the Grainger Museum was commissioned by the Museums and Collections department within the University of Melbourne. The plaster cast was fabricated from a complex 3D printed negative mould to create the silicone positive cast of the volume of the Grainger Museum. The cast captures the interior volume, detail and essence of the 1938 art deco red brick building on the University campus and re-represents the fortress-like appearance of the building allowing viewers to reassess and access the space.
